Special election info
Why are we having a special election in January 2025? In the 2024 campaign we determined that our DFL opponent – recruited, endorsed, and supported by the MN State DFL - did not meet the statutory qualification to be a candidate for State Representative in House District 40B (HD40B.) After the November 5th election we contested the election on the grounds that my DFL opponent was not qualified because he was not living in the HD40B district. Residency for state representative candidates is required under the MN Constitution and state statute.
Judicial ruling: Judge Leonardo Castro, Ramsey County District Court, agreed with our claims and ruled that my DFL opponent was not a resident of House District 40B and therefore unqualified. Judge Castro’s strong ruling vacated the 2024 election.
Writ for Special Election: On 12/27/2024 Governor Tim Walz issued a writ for a special election to be held on January 28, 2025.

My candidacy in the special election
I was the endorsed candidate for the 2024 HD40B election and ran an organized and vigorous campaign. I received 1,800 more votes than the Republican house candidate in the 2022 election. I also received nearly 1,000 more votes than President-Elect Donald Trump within HD40B. I have a very strong team which made this possible! I am seeking the re-endorsement from HD40B Republicans in the January Endorsement Convention.
My priorities: stop fraud, confront deception to improve public transparency, and bring balanced representation to our MN state government!
